The following paper undertakes a brief discussion of the semantic shift of Nemesis‘ attributes and role from being a goddess of righteous retribution to a goddess of vengeance and discusses its necessity in terms of current artistic, cultural and social issues by use of a brief textual and musical analysis of the song Nemesis by Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy, released in 2005.
