Korn, Matthias (2026). Neue Wege alter Fächer: Lehre gestalten in den Altertumswissenschaften – eine Online-Veranstaltungsreihe im Wintersemester 2025/26. Ars docendi, 26, marzo 2026.

In a collaboration between classical scholars at the University of Vienna and the ‚Kleine Fächer (Minor Subjects) research centre‘ at the University of Mainz, which is funded among others by the Standing Conference of the German Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK), a series of events entitled ‚New Approaches to Old Subjects: Teaching in Classical Studies‘ took place in the winter semester of 2025/26.
This article is intended to provide an initial report on the target audience, objectives, events and results, and the author intends to continue it, as may the event series itself, if a corresponding vote by participants in February 2026 is favourable. The idea and concept for this effective, long-overdue and thoroughly excellent and engaging series of events is thanks to Dr Katharina Bahlmann (Research Centre), Dr Matthias Hoernes (University of Vienna), Prof. Dr Peter Kruschwitz (University of Vienna) and Mr Hannes Weichert M.A. (Research Centre).
The event series was preceded by a call for papers, which resulted in 25 lectures held in four thematic blocks and a closing panel discussion between October 2025 and January 2026.
