Ars docendi 27/2026
Premessa – Vorwort – Foreword [Adami]
The June issue of Ars docendi is still marked by the sudden death of our second editor-in-chief, Matthias Korn.
A comprehensive obituary has been dedicated to him, written by one of his closest colleagues, Jörg Freydank.
This time, we have chosen textbooks for Latin and Greek as our main focus.
The aim was not to provide a comprehensive overview of all textbooks, but rather to offer food for thought: Which textbooks are currently of interest, and for what reason? What methodological principles underpin their structure? What concrete insights might be drawn from this for Latin teaching?
The textbooks have also been deliberately examined by a variety of stakeholders: by teachers, by teacher trainers, but also by university staff, who naturally bring different perspectives to the table.
At the same time, we once again offer those interested an intriguing cross-border insight: which issues regarding textbook design are currently of concern in German-speaking and Italian-speaking regions?
The contributions from Germany, Austria and Italy demonstrate how differently themes and methods are approached here, and may, when compared, stimulate further reflection.
In addition, we are also publishing two articles: one presents a fascinating project carried out by a secondary school in southern Italy in collaboration with external partners, whilst the other – in keeping with the main theme – examines the new, revised framework guidelines for Latin and Greek in Italy.
