Premessa – Vorwort [Adami]

The theatre of ancient Greece is considered the origin of European theatre culture.
It is fascinating to trace how far modern theatre is still influenced by ancient precepts, which elements are adopted and for what reasons, or also how far theatre of today departs from earlier standards.

We decided to create a thematic issue on this complex by trying to combine projects and considerations that are interesting for school, for teaching. In doing so, it was important to us to keep the radius as broad as possible.

We have been able to collect thoughts and reflections from Rome, Venice, Trento, Bolzano, Amsterdam, Dresden and Leipzig, and in this issue we would simply like to bring you a wide variety of impulses on the great subject of theatre and drama in Greek and Latin lessons, and also in interdisciplinary teaching.

The focus ranges from current academic findings to the initiative "I classici contro" to a wide variety of very different, extremely fascinating projects and a concrete reception-historical investigation into the socio-political interpretation of "Antigone" in the 20th and 21st centuries.

We hope we can offer you stimulating reading moments.
