Classics instruction is facing a worldwide crisis due to multiple causes: while academic response consists in pointing out the roots of meaningfulness of antiquity related to modernity, teachers have to find innovative approaches of pedagogy for teaching Latin and Ancient Greek to teen-agers students who seem to dislike them. In this article Winston Churchill’s recollection of his own experience as a pupil learner of Latin is investigated in limelight of Stephen D. Krashen ’s Second Language Acquisition theory.
